Just a brief note to let everyone know that the Airship modeler forum, once again has vanished as of today, March 14, 2013. I will remove this post when (if) it returns.

  1. Jim, Thought I'd let you know: If you check the "AirshipModeler" photo page (couldn't think of the proper name) it has a message from Charles Adams (I think) giving the reasons for the sites final closure. It does say that the domain will be temporarily moved however this could go both ways...

  2. How do you get to this page? I could not find it, nor Charles' message.

  3. Sorry for the late response (I never check back on comments as often as I should). The message was posted on the page with the "Enter" button and the photograph of the Hindenburg. The message reads;

    'I am very sorry to report this site is closed. After fending off numerous attacks by spammers and hackers, a series of seemingly never-ending database problems along with a lack of responsiveness from our Web host WEB.COM has made it too difficult and frustrating to keep this site up and running.

    Over the last year or so, our database server kept having intermittent problems. I reported this (over and over again) to the Web host and they were unwilling or unable to find the problem. Recently, after losing all our attachments in the server rebuild when our site was hacked, the only thing left of this site was the data in the threads. Now, the database server has crashed and our data has apparently been lost. This is simply the last straw.

    I am not an expert in Web databases. For all I know, much of the data could be recovered. But, this is beyond the level of anything I am able to do.

    Under no circumstances would I EVER RECOMMEND WEB.COM as a Web host for a site like this. Their shared database setup caused me nothing but headaches and problems. Each time I contacted them, the default answer was always "We can't recreate the problem." Getting anywhere with these people was like pulling teeth.

    I will be cancelling my hosting contract with this company and moving the domain to a temporary free hosting plan somewhere else. In the meantime, I am placing this domain AIRSHIPMODELER.COM and its sister domain ZEPPELINMODELER.COM up for sale.

    I love building models and I have *always* loved airships. Unfortunately,the technology involved in making the Internet work continues to get more and more complicated every day. It is with great frustration and great disappointment that I make the decision to surrender and let this wonderful site go the way of the dinosaur.

    If you would like to take the reins and give this site a new home, please contact me at webmaster@airshipmodeler.com'

    I was fortunate enough to talk with Charles and it seems like there's still a chance for the site however, as I don't know if it's confidential or not, I'd suggest E-mailing him at the adress he provided.

Pensupreme and other vintage milk cartons... do people collect these?

 In the last year, I have noticed how a lot of people collect vintage glass milk bottles, which I remember when I was a kid, how the milkman...
